CHRISTMAS

My Christmas Mood Board this Year

As many of you heard from Instagram, this year for Christmas my theme will be a Warm Woodland. The idea for a Warm Woodland came from Pinterest when I was scrolling through my feed to discover the mixture of glam/rustic tones. I really wanted to hop out of my comfort bubble this year and discover something that I haven't done before. This is where I saw this Christmas tree done by Jenna Sue. Immediately when I saw her theme, I knew right away that was the theme I wanted to do. The color scheme that Jenna does for her tree not only suits what I'm leaning towards this year, but also intertwines the color scheme of my current home that I live in. With the rustic embellishments this year's theme brings, I believe it will flow well throughout the house. Let's talk a bit more in detail of what certain things I loved about the tree below that I wanted to do this year for Christmas.

First thing's first, one thing that I want to talk about it the color palette for this Tree above. Based on the colors I can visually see right in front of me. Here are the top 5 colors that I have listed in my color palette below:

In the palette above, the colors that I saw were mainly: gold, bronze, black, olive, off white cream, and ash silver. From what I see significantly in this this tree, this is what my main color scheme for the rest of my home. Do note that there are some other colors in the tree that aren't listed due to how minimal they stand out. Although they do not stand out compared to the rest of the other colors, DO NOT forget them as they are part of the reason why they still intertwine with each other.

Why is color palette important?

Color palette is what helps you determine what color your decorations need to be. When finding ornaments and Christmas balls, you don't want to just scramble and just buy anything that is right in front of you. The first question that should come into your mind should be, "What color scheme is Christmas this year?" Once you have figured that out, you are able to filter out most of the unnecessary colors and focus on the one that fits your theme this year. Same applies to any other Christmas decor you plan to buy this year. For example: ribbons, wrapping paper, Christmas gift tags, garlands, tablecloth, centerpieces, etc....

Another inspiration that I will be doing this year is getting craftier with my gift wrapping. When I was on Pinterest earlier this week, I discovered this gift-wrapping idea from Anne-Lene who made these beautiful simplistic, but outstanding gift toppers that I wanted to try this Christmas. With the color scheme that I have for this Holiday, I wanted to see if I buy certain thin ribbon that matches the color scheme while tying in the format of how she creates these toppers, I wonder if it would still work out? I guess I know what my task for this Holiday will be. Now you see what I mean when it comes to color palettes, and why it is soo important to know that before purchasing your Christmas decor. Without knowing what theme you will be doing this Holiday, it is impossible to know where to begin your Holiday shopping.

Next thing that I wanted to talk specifically about is staircase garland. As some of you may know...I always wanted to do a staircase garland for some time now. Why haven't I done it yet? Well, many reasons.... Whether it be out of my comfort zone, or didn't have time, or didn't know how to style it.... I told myself, that this is the year to step out of my comfort zone. In order to be successful in design you always have to be outside of your comfort zone and be willing to try new things for your home. Therefore, for this Christmas, I will be doing a staircase garland, finally! There were some details that came into my mind when I had to figure how I wanted to create this garland. One question was, should it be lit up or not?

How will I style my staircase this year?

That is another question that I asked myself next? What will the design style of the staircase garland be? Will it be bulky with a lot of ornaments, or will it be simplistic? This year, I decided to go on the more simplistic route. Why may you ask? The reason behind that is due to the fact that I don't have a plug near my garland to light it up. Therefore, I am giving it a simplistic look that does not require it to be lit up.

Here another designer who did the same simplistic garland that I am looking for. One thing that I am trying to go for in this garland is to make it look organic and simple. Since, like I said earlier, I don't have an outlet near my staircase, I really want to achieve this style since the small strand of garland would stand out in its own way rather than have it be bulky with no lights, and get lost in its own design, if that makes sense?

With that being said, that is all I have planned out for this Holiday season...for now. I really hope this theme has you just as excited as I am for this Christmas since I am truly looking forward to sprucing up my home for the Holidays. Until next time, there will be more Christmas content to come!
