CHRISTMAS

Christmas 2022 House Tour: Part 2

Welcome back to the second part of the house tour for Christmas 2022. For the second part that I am doing, it will be focused on downstairs of my home. When I first brainstormed how I wanted the theme to be for this year, I wanted it to be a mix of rustic warm tones along with a small touch of glitter. By combining this together, I called the theme Warm Woodland. This theme was inspired by Jenna Sue Design in how she did her Warm Woodland Christmas theme in the previous year. Although majority of what I did was inspired by what she did for her home, I decided to add a little flair of my own design to this year's Christmas theme. Come with me as I take you around with what I did with our downstairs space this year.

If you missed part one of the house tour, that was focused on my bedroom, click the link here to see the first part before continuing on.

When you first walk through our front door, your first impression is our Christmas tree. For our tree this year, I decided to cut back on the size from an 8-9 feet tree to 6-7 feet. The reason behind this is due to the fact that I am not hosting for the holidays this year. On my Christmas tree, the color scheme that I did was, brass, gold, white, and black. There were two things that I did on the Christmas tree that year that I've never done before. The first one being a honeysuckle wreath included on the Christmas tree. In order to add the rustic touch to this year's Christmas, I wanted to add honeysuckle onto the tree that adds that 'woodsy' vibe to it. What I did was, I purchased three honeysuckle wreaths from Michaels, but I took it apart to make it a long strand. Once it became a strand, I had it wrapped around the tree from top to bottom to be as an imitation to a ribbon strand.

Second new thing that I did to the Christmas tree was, instead of making very large ribbon bows on the tree, I decided to just add small strands on black ribbon around certain outer branches of the tree. Lately on Instagram and TikTok today, I've been seeing a lot of people do that ribbon style on their tree. Because of that, I told myself...what not give it a shot. Therefore, my wishes became a reality. I was really happy how the result turned out, because at first, I was a bit hesitant to try something new for the free, but I reminded myself the life is all about taking risk and trying new things. I can't call myself a Christmas decorator if I don't always step out of my comfort zone every year am I right?

Moving over to the right side from the tree now, is one thing I am super excited about. I finally got to make a staircase garland!!! I've been wanting to do one for some time now. But for some reason, there was always an excuse to why I didn't add it. Either budget, or timing, or even just fear of it not looking nice. But I decided this year to suck it up and tell myself that I must try this design out to see if it suits my expectation. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed.

On the staircase garland, I decided to continue the honeysuckle wreath signature throughout my Christmas decor and add it along onto the staircase garland. Along with the wreath, I also added some brass color simplistic ribbon onto the mini moments of the garland. I really loved how the ribbons turned out because it was subtle and not too poppy of a ribbon. With the ribbons that I decided to add last minute were these white sort of poinsettia flowers throughout the garland that I thought were a nice touch to it. Because the railing is brown, I thought by including it, the flowers would perfectly stand out in its own way without interfering with the ribbon or the honeysuckle wreath. I personally felt like the flowers together contributes to the whole theme of the warm woodland and ties it all together as a nice organic/small touch of glam feel.

A new addition to the Christmas decor that I love this year is this antique gold bell that I bought from Amazon. Lately on social media, I've been seeing a lot of Christmas decorators buying these vintage bells online, and I told myself that I've got to get my hands on a set of these. Who knew that vintage bells were already hard to purchase in the month of October already when people are pre-shopping for Christmas stuff, because most likely, they are also a content creator as well that need their Christmas decor ahead of the Holidays. But luckily, I was able to find this four-set of vintage bells from Amazon, for a budget friendly price, that was almost out of stock. I was lucky enough to get one, and to be honest, I love where I chose to place it. By having it at the beginning of the staircase, I felt like the bell has its big moment that creates a very big first impression when looking at the staircase garland.

Now let's move right over to the family room of my house. In the family room, near the fireplace is my fireplace garland. For the garland this year, I decided to go a lot more simplistic with the garland. There were four major things that I did which in my opinion was enough for the garland. That was, honeysuckle wreath, floral, brass ribbon, and wooden beaded garland. I really love the wooden beaded garland on top of the greenery because it contrasted the color of the base that had it pop out in its own simplistic ways that I love.

Tying that together with the garland is the ribbon. Since I used the same ribbon on my staircase, I wanted to add the same ribbon onto the fireplace garland. By doing this, along with the honeysuckle wreath, this allowed each decor of my house to have some sort of correlation to each other and tying it all as a whole.

Thank you all so much for joining me on this illustrative tour of my home for Christmas. I know videos would most likely be a lot better, but due to the state of just finishing my Fall semester of college, I do need to put myself first, and make sure I do give myself the necessary break to allow myself to replenish for my final semester of college. Hope you enjoyed this reading, and I wish you all a Merry Christmas! Until next time.
